The UFE (Overseas French Union) brings you a Christmas market reminiscent of the famous Strasbourg market, the most famous festival market in France. Expect to meet local artisans, to  taste the flavours of Christmas at the food market and enjoy a host of enchanting activities.

Sunday, December 17th • Christmas Market @La Place, Gros Bois

A dozen exhibitors will bring Santa's spirit with products such as swimwear, decorations, recycled goods, tapas, Christmas cakes, leather sandals, fresh fruit and vegetables and many other festive products. Young and old alike will also be able to take photos in front of the big tree that will be installed on La Place from December 1!

Friday, December 1st • Meet the Scientist with Patrick Huet, Volcanologist @House of Digital Arts, Port Louis

Come meet Patrice Huet, Scientific Director of La Cité des Volcans (Reunion Island), who will introduce you to the fascinating world of volcanoes! He will offer a scientific outlook on House of Digital Art's Exhibition "If there was a territory in between noon and midnight", focusing on the installations that have been inspired by our geology and its surrounding myths.

December 2nd to December 9th • Exhibition 'Terres Marronnes' @Institut Francais, Rose Hill

At a time when everyday objects are becoming detached from their history, Terre Marronnes is an ode to the uniqueness and memory of Mauritian earth. Shakti Callikan, armed with her shovel and guided by the sagacity of geologists, has scoured the nooks and crannies of the island to fashion a series of ceramic objects that reinvent mud into artistic marvels. Guided tour daily at 10am.

Monday, December 4th • ‘Lundi c’est (P)arty #10’ @Institut Francais de Maurice, Rose Hill

Chaque mois, l’Institut Francais présente des artistes locaux ou de passage lors d'une soirée combinant dialogues artistiques, performances et interactions. La soirée se termine par un moment convivial autour d'un verre pour rencontrer les intervenants, dans une ambiance rythmée par la musique d'un DJ. Pour cette dixième édition, les invités exposeront leurs travaux sur le thème de la terre : Shakti Callikan (Entrepreneure culturelle), Jean Claude de l'Estrac (Ecrivain & ancien Ministre), Anna Mallac-Sim (Architecte - urbaniste), Sanjeeyan Paleatchy (Artiste plasticien & Scénographe), Ken Zo (DJ).

Wednesday, December 6th • ‘A Doll’s House’, an adaptation of Henrik Ibsen’s play @Caudan Arts Centre, Port Louis

‘A Doll’s House’, Ibsen’s great classic, is revisited by the English Theatre Group of The School. This is the story of Nora Helmer, and her journey of self-discovery and growth. This experimental staging transposes the reality of Nora in different contexts, to show that her experience is one that cuts across geographical and cultural boundaries.

December 9th & 12th • Sunset boat conference in Port Louis harbor 'Si le port m'étais conté...' @Le Suffren Hotel & Marina

Embark with Maya de Salle, Doctor of Antrophology and founder of My Moris, on the Suffren's catamaran for a journey through the port's fascinating history. These harbor cruises take you between heritage buildings to learn more about the key role that Port Louis harbor has played in Mauritius's socio-economic landscape since the 18th century.
